Who We Are

Faith and education, side by side — for twenty years and counting.

We opened our doors in 2005 as a small group of families who wanted a place where their children could learn Islam in English — without losing depth, scholarship, or community.

Today we run a K–9 school, a Sunday madressah, weekly programs, and host commemorations and celebrations across the Islamic calendar. Everyone is welcome at our centre, whatever your background.

Private School

Al-Mustafa Private School

A certified independent Islamic school in Surrey and Delta, BC, rooted in the Islamic value system — teaching and nurturing by informing the mind, inspiring the heart and elevating the soul.

Our Vision

Education Rooted in Islamic Values

Rooted in the Islamic value system, Al-Mustafa School seeks to support and enhance strong Muslim identity formation on the basis of the guidance of the Holy Qurʾān and the teachings of the Messenger of Mercy Muḥammad al-Muṣṭafā (Ṣ) and his Immaculate Progeny (AS).

That vision shapes every part of the school day. BC curriculum standards are taught alongside Qur’an, Arabic and Islamic studies, so our students grow up handling the Qur’an with care, learning the names of those who carried it before them, and being asked to think about why they do what they do — not only what they have done.

Al-Mustafa School opened in September 2021 and is part of a not-for-profit society that has served the Muslim community for over a decade — through a vibrant Islamic weekend school, a preschool and licensed childcare programme, and now a certified independent school. Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3 learn at our Surrey campus and Grades 4 to 9 in Delta.

Our licensed Junior Kindergarten begins at 30 months, so a child can be with us from their earliest years right through to Grade 9.

Registration for the 2026/2027 school year is open. Call (604) 900-2773 or email admin@amschool.ca to enquire.

Educational Philosophy

Five Values We Teach By

Al-Mustafa School seeks to serve by providing a God-centred, enabling and elevating educational experience for children — one built on five values that run through every classroom, every subject and every day.

I.

Unity & Sincerity

Towards our Creator. Every subject — from poetry to physics — is taught with a quiet awareness of Allah at the centre.

II.

Reverence & Respect

For the sacred. Children grow up handling the Qur’an with care and learning the names of those who carried it before them.

III.

Consciousness & Awareness

Of our intentions and our actions. Why we do something matters as much as what we do, and students are taught to pause and ask the question.

IV.

Care & Compassion

For creation. From classmates to the natural world — kindness is a habit we practise, not a sentiment we describe.

V.

Honour & Esteem

In cherishing and valuing self and others. Confidence rooted in Islamic character — children leave knowing both who they are and how to treat people.

Approach

Inform the Mind, Inspire the Heart, Elevate the Soul

Three things happen at once in an Al-Mustafa classroom. None of them is an add-on to the others.

Inform the Mind

Rigorous academic programming aligned with the BC curriculum, equipping students with knowledge, critical thinking and the skills to thrive.

Inspire the Heart

Moral, emotional and spiritual enrichment that helps students develop Islamic character and a genuine love of learning rooted in faith.

Elevate the Soul

Through Qur’anic studies, prayer and reflection, students build a personal relationship with their Creator and a sense of purpose in life.

What We Seek

Beyond the Classroom & Beyond the School Years

Holistic Growth

We look at the whole child, and we look at that child in context — within a family, within a society, within creation. Growth in one area is never pursued at the cost of another.

Transcends Time & Space

Learning is not limited to the classroom or to the school years. What a child takes from here should still be working in them long after they have left us.

Focused on the Future

We keep two futures in view at once: the temporal one our students are preparing for, and the Eternal one that gives the first its meaning.

Our Mission

Developing the Child as a Whole

Standing on the foundations of authentic learning needs and the natural tendencies of children, Al-Mustafa School endeavours to provide a holistic framework for the development of the child as a whole.

The School seeks to excel in providing an academically enriching and morally, emotionally and spiritually supported learning system — one that will ground our students as God-conscious, creation-caring, compassionate and coherent individuals who seek to excel personally and to serve humanity on the path towards betterment in all arenas of progress.

Our students are part of a larger learning community that includes parents, teachers, staff and community members — people who seek to be life-long learners themselves, and who help spark that same intuitive yearning for knowledge and spiritual elevation in others.

Why Families Choose Us

What Your Child Gets Here

The philosophy above is the reason. This is what it looks like in practice, day to day.

Holistic Education

A well-rounded education that integrates BC curriculum standards with Qur’an, Arabic and Islamic studies — one programme, not a religious add-on to a secular one.

Dedicated Staff

Passionate educators who bring both professional expertise and spiritual guidance into the classroom. You can read every teacher’s background in the staff directory on the school’s site.

Early Childhood Excellence

Our Junior Kindergarten is a licensed group child care facility for ages 30 months to 5 years, led by educators who specialise in nature-based, play-rich learning.

Faith & Character Building

Students are encouraged to grow not only academically but in character, compassion and Islamic identity. Report cards are not the only thing we are watching.

In-Person, Two Campuses

Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3 learn in person at Al-Mustafa Elementary School in Surrey; Grades 4 to 9 at Al-Mustafa School in Delta. Parents and volunteers take an active part at both.

Recognised & Established

Al-Mustafa School opened in September 2021 and holds a Group 1 classification from the BC Ministry of Education. The Surrey facility sits within the natural setting of Joe Brown Park.

Student Life

Our Students & Campus

A nurturing environment where students grow academically, spiritually and socially — every single day.

Privacy

Privacy Policy

What this website records, what it deliberately does not, and how to reach us about it.

Last updated: 11 September 2026

The short version: we count how many people read each page, using our own server. We do not use cookies for this, we do not use Google Analytics or any other outside company, and we do not sell, share or trade anyone’s information.

Who we are

This website is run by Al-Mustafa Academy BC, a charitable non-profit Islamic community centre in Surrey, British Columbia. If you have a question about anything on this page, please contact us — our details are at the bottom.

Visitor statistics

We count page views so we know which parts of the website are useful and which are being missed. This is done entirely on our own server. Nothing is sent to Google, Meta, or any other company, and nothing we record can follow you to another website.

For each page view we record the page address, the website that linked you to us (if any), and the date and time.

To tell the difference between one person reading five pages and five people reading one page each, we need something that stays the same during a visit. We do not store your IP address to do this. Instead, your IP address and browser are scrambled together with a secret that changes every single day, producing a short code. That code cannot be turned back into your IP address, and because the secret changes daily, the same visitor produces a completely different code tomorrow. Those codes are discarded once the day ends — only the totals are kept.

Statistics are kept for 90 days and then deleted. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we do not count you at all.

Cookies

Browsing this website sets no cookies. A single cookie is used only when a staff member signs in to the administration area, to keep them signed in. It is not used for advertising or tracking, and ordinary visitors never receive one.

When you contact us

If you fill in the contact form we receive your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, and your message, so that we can reply. It is emailed to our office and kept in the website’s message area. We use it to answer you and for nothing else. Ask us and we will delete it.

Things loaded from elsewhere

Some pages include content provided by other organisations, and when your browser loads that content those organisations can see your IP address, exactly as if you had visited them directly. Their own privacy policies apply:

  • YouTube — live streams and past recordings on the Events page.
  • Google Maps — the map on the Contact page.
  • Google Fonts — the typefaces used across the site.
  • Google Calendar — our programme listings, fetched by our server rather than by your browser.
  • Zeffy — the donation form, if you choose to give.

Children

This website is intended for parents and adults in the community. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Enrolment and registration for our school and madressah are handled by our office, not through this website.

Keeping information safe

The website is served only over an encrypted connection. Access to the administration area requires a password and a one-time code sent by email. Only a small number of trusted volunteers and staff have accounts.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Because our visitor statistics contain nothing that identifies anyone, there is nothing in them to look up or remove — but anything you have sent us through the contact form, we can delete on request.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
